Though the decor is unassuming to the point of blandness, the House of Tea is a veritable treasure trove, with over 300 loose-leaf tea varieties for sale, many imported by owner Marisha Golla. She comes from a Sri Lankan tea-broker family and possesses encyclopedic knowledge—she’ll happily share facts about plantation soil conditions, plant varieties and production techniques with customers. Rarities include Alishan oolong from Taiwan, African nettle and wok-toasted Chinese Big Red Robe. There are hundreds of pots for sale; our favourites are the triple-layer Japanese cast iron and handmade Chinese YiXing clay.
