Obikwa 2007 Shiraz

Excellent value. Not a massive, complex wine, but it catches essential shiraz characteristics fairly well—fragrant raspberry, cherry, pepper, tobacco smoke and clove—and delivers a mid-weight, smooth, fresh style. Designed for current enjoyment, although the presence of some tannin indicates it will hold right through the turn of the decade. A touch of meatiness (liver and onions) pegs it as a Cape example.
