KWV 2005 Cathedral Cellar Cabernet Sauvignon

Fittingly, this red has more depth and complexity than the regular KWV cabernet above, but receives a lower rating due to a tannin imbalance. Ripe prune, blackcurrant, licorice, leather, tobacco and rubber hose aromas are mindful of old Euro cabernets. It’s medium-full, dense and rich on the palate but exceedingly tannic and dry on the finish. Excellent length. Age may soften the tannin but will further oxidize the fruit. Vintages Essentials.
