Bellingham 2005 Shiraz Viognier

Re-tasted in mid-2008, this vintage includes a splash of white viognier—a popular softening trick borrowed from France’s Côte Rôtie. The nose has indeed softened, with well-integrated ripe blackberry fruit, vanilla, smoked meat (corned beef) and peppery notes. Fairly full bodied, soft and fleshy, with soft, dusty tannin. Best now to 2010. LCBO 554360
