The well-executed tapas at this enclave of traditional Spanish fare reminds diners why small plates are so popular of late. House-marinated white anchovies get a mouth-tingling boost from high-quality olive oil and vinegar; tender-crisp calamari nail a comforting balance between salt and fat. Two superbly grilled lamb chops arrive medium-rare atop a jus that’s flavoured with roasted figs. Duck confit, perfumed with rosemary, is crisp from pan searing and accompanied by an intense slice of luxurious caramelized pear—a delicious, perfectly balanced match. Tangy, rich and incredibly sweet, a round of goat cheese in a warm bath of herbed honey almost makes the dessert menu irrelevant, though a martini glass of fresh strawberries marinated in tongue-tingling anise liqueur and delicately topped with whipped cream shouldn’t be missed. A variety of excellent, well-priced Spanish wines are available. Tapas $6–$12.
