Though the room is marred by garish floral fabric banquettes and eyesore art, all is right on the plate, where the smart money opts for the 140‑item tapas carte, and every item is $9. Highlights include fat hearts of palm bathed in creamy pink garlic aïoli sauce, and house-made chorizo paired with pungent sautéed onions and garlic. Seafood succeeds: tender Nova Scotia scallops sauced with mushrooms and saffron, toothsome baby squid stuffed with minced crab in smooth piquillo pepper sauce, and firm shrimp in simple but effective olive oil and garlic. Mains are either classic or predictable, depending on the diner’s point of view. Mains $21–$36.
