Reviewed by Toronto LifeMount Pleasant’s beloved seafood restaurant is a comforting anomaly in an age of upmarket bistros and slick resto-lounges. Chef-owner Jac Eckhardt caters to both ends of the dining spectrum: perhaps steamed shellfish with drawn butter for purists, and ruby red tuna tartare with shaved Asian pear and glistening trout roe for the more adventurous. Fish and chips gets a new look with panko-crusted slices of moist halibut and crisp, crinkle-cut fries. The wine list is loaded with crisp, aromatic whites. Affable service. Mains $16–$32.
