Chippy’s

Lounging room in the Queen West location of this popular Toronto fish and chips chain is minimal, to say the least. Housed in a tiny storefront, the deep fryers are located directly behind the cash register, and a small counter along the front window seats about five. Ordering is easy: pair a fish fillet (cod, halibut, sole and salmon, among others) with chips (P.E.I. and Ontario potatoes cut fresh every morning). Sides of homemade tartar sauce and mayo cost extra. Unlicensed. Mains $6.50–$12.
