Editorial Review

At the base of baby Whistler, powerhouse pair Oliver and Bonacini marries urban culinary style with country charm, deftly balancing the two to keep bunnies (the skiing kind, and infant ones, too) in snowsuits and Prada-bedecked brokers happy. The menu, while a tad safe, is beautifully executed. Beef carpaccio comes alive with sautéed mushrooms, shaved parmesan and hints of truffle oil. Chicken and shrimp Thai red curry sings with technicolour flavour. Thick-cut rack of lamb arrives juicy, its fat lending sinful mouth feel to a pitch-perfect mint chutney; too bad about the ho-hum root vegetable and goat cheese gratin. Dense carrot cake with lemon sour cream ice cream brings a comforting finish. Unobtrusive and accommodating service. Mains $14–$39.
