This lone, small Canadian branch of a popular Uruguayan chain of diners is masterful at providing cheap, filling South American favourites. Faina, a thin, crispy, polenta-like toast made from crushed chickpeas, tastes suitably salty and buttery. The real draws are the chivitos: huge, multi-layered steak sandwiches. The Canadian is loaded with tender filet, bacon, ham, cheese, lettuce, tomato, mayo and a fried egg. Six house-made desserts include flan and chaja, a concoction of meringue, peaches and cream.
