From the table’s salt, pepper and paprika shakers to the menu’s schnitzel and paprikash, this solidly Hungarian eatery boasts a homey feel. Deeply caramelized onions, sour cream and a half-sausage top pleasingly chewy pierogies; hearty cabbage rolls, filled with paprika-seasoned ground pork and chaperoned by a mound of sauerkraut, make an ambitious appetizer. Mains are rounded out with sliced cucumber, strangely sweet vinegar-based coleslaw, pickled beets or unadorned lettuce, plus carb-laden rice, home fries, dumplings ...
