Editorial Review

The cozy dining room, decorated in golden yellows and chocolate browns, continues to welcome neighbourhood families, friends and nervous first dates, even after 32 years. For a mouthful of cheddar love, try Grandma’s Pierogies: five plump, boiled dumplings with sour cream and fresh dill. Tripe soup offers thick, peppery broth and meltingly tender but slightly gelatinous tripe morsels. Eschew watery, bland cod and opt instead for the crunchy, golden goodness of signature Vienna schnitzel, beautifully moist inside and topped with a fried egg. Homemade deep-dish apple tart evokes memories of Oma’s kitchen. This kind of food calls for imported beer, and there are seven varieties to choose from.
