It’s a veritable party at the sushi bar, where fawning fans sidle up to the master, Hiro Yoshida, who refills their sake cups in between his meticulous slicing and rolling. Beef sashimi is rich and tangy, with ponzu and paper-thin onion slices. An assortment of the day’s sashimi is small for the price and surprisingly ham-fisted: thick pieces of salmon, grilled tuna, octopus, shrimp, butterfish and clam arrive in a deep bowl. From the à la carte sushi menu, smoked butterfish nigiri is unforgettably buttery, smoky and perfect. Closed Sunday and Monday. Small plates $9–$40, omakase $70.
