Locals and destination foodies alike flock to this traditional-yet-hip sushi house where the fish arrives daily from Japan. Those seated at the teppanyaki table get a front-row seat for the sizzling dinner theatre. Adventurous diners surrender to chef Kevin Saito’s omakase whims and are offered such surprises as the dramatic “sauna-fried” tiger shrimp, which arrives in a bamboo bucket of fire-heated rocks. Abalone, lobster and sea urchin have all featured in the omakase meal. The lengthy menu also offers vegetable, shrimp and lobster tempuras and a variety of bento boxes. Two traditional tatami rooms make ideal spots for privacy seekers; sake lovers adore the list of 30-plus sakes. Mains $7–$15.
