Reviewed by Toronto LifeWith its corner spot in the heart of Little Italy, this casual trattoria fills up with budget-conscious fashionistas who come to watch the College Street cavalcade from rooftop and sidewalk patios. Inside, the exposed brick and wood-burning pizza oven give the space a rustic feel, though the vibe is marred by annoying flat screen TVs tuned to sports. Port and fig dressing on a salad of mesclun and strawberries disappoints with one-note sweetness and under-ripe berries. Mains fare much better, with excellent pizzas on smoky, crispy crusts, and hearty pastas providing homey comfort, especially a luscious meat lasagna crafted, we’re told, by the owner’s mama. House-made tiramisù strikes a pleasing balance of creaminess, chocolate and booze. Small selection of wines in the $30 to $60 range. Service is friendly and flirtatious. Mains $12–$27.
