Floor-to-ceiling ripples of red tile on one wall add punch to this otherwise low-key Bloor West standby. Italy inspires the creative kitchen, which produces such subtle dishes as mushroomy spaghettini primavera, as well as more ostentatious plates, like the linguine java, with its rich, espresso-zinged mascarpone-cream sauce, grilled chicken chunks, double-smoked bacon, caramelized onions and spicy dime-size chorizo chips. Stale pre-dinner rolls and perfunctory service detract from the otherwise pleasant dining experience. Mains $14–$17.
