Reviewed by Toronto LifeNot just a hangout for beautiful College Street types, this room sets its tone with elegant window drapery and well-prepped Italian favourites. The menu focuses on pizza and pasta, with a few of the requisite fresh fish and protein-based entrées. Some out-of-the-ordinary Italian dishes line the appetizer list. Pasta fagioli soup, thick with romano beans and al dente tubetti, is gently seasoned with fresh rosemary. Excellent thin-crust pizzas from a wood-fired oven combine such thoroughly Italian ingredients as fatty pancetta, gorgonzola and paper-thin homemade prosciutto. Cannelloni pleases, its spinachy ricotta filling scented with nutmeg. Sweets focus on cheesecake; the delicate orange-flavoured Neapolitan ricotta version—one slice is big enough for two—finishes the meal with rustic grace. The house sangiovese makes an acceptable choice from the list of pricey bottles. Mains $10–$22.
