“Whoa, whoa, whoa,” says a bright-eyed, tattooed server. “You folks are ordering a lot of food!” He offers to make the sides on a burrito plate smaller and “knock a couple bucks off the bill.” It’s this friendly, attentive service that makes this place paradise for Little Italy regulars seeking yummy, relatively healthy and affordable meals. Both the miniature front room and the winterized back patio are full every night of the week. A starter of onion and sweet potato bhajis brings little crispy balls of subcontinentally influenced goodness with a bright curry-tinged mayo alongside. The aforementioned burrito is a fat flour tortilla roll stuffed with chewy, spicy lamb merguez and molten brie. There are plenty of massive vegetarian options, including a big pile of mesclun topped with goat cheese, walnuts, grilled peppers and ample slices of sautéed portobellos. Rightfully popular burgers are medium-sized and juicy, offered with an array of sloppy toppings.
