On trend with the city’s lineup of elegant Indian spots, Jaaadu’s space is modern, with sleek leather chairs and crisp linens. The menu is predictable, with the usual butter chicken and beef vindaloo, but the food delivers on the beautiful room’s promise. Vegetable pakoras are tempura- like crispy shreds of vegetable served with three delicious dips. Likewise, mysore dal is a smooth purée of red lentils and spice with the right amount of creaminess. Madras chicken, bursting with fragrant fresh curry leaves, is one of the best chicken curries in the city. Even simple basmati has a wondrous smokiness. Service disappears come bill time. Mains $12–$14.
