After leaving his Biryani House in 2007, Debu Saha opened an elegant Leaside restaurant last year, offering a labour-intensive take on nouvelle Indian food. Saha brings subcontinental spicing to western-style dishes that often involve three separate elements. Quail, for example, comes tandoori style, with green mango salsa, pan-seared with a spicy ground lamb stuffing, and chopped into a giant croquette of beet and sweet potato. The first preparation is tasty, but the flavours dwindle to dull in the other two. Vegetarians can enjoy half the menu, including a triptych of cauliflower, the best in a citrus-almond sauce. Mains $10–$25.
