Editorial Review

The fans of this North York fixture most certainly don’t come for the decor or the service, which borders on deaf—when staff aren’t busy, they often bide their time staring at diners. But the food makes up for it. Sizzling crumb-crusted paneer acharri is tangy and fresh. Yogurt-and-almond-coated murgh badami tikka, made crunchy by the tandoor, is tender atop a sizzling bed of crisp beet, carrot and white cabbage. Dhal makhani makes lentils silky with cream and fragrant fenugreek; it’s ideally mopped up with a large, near-perfect paratha in steaming buttery layers. Mango and sweet lassi come ice-cold.
