A bit of à la mode elegance has finally come to the Beach, and long-suffering locals in search of a meal that’s not deep-fried or served in a cone are welcoming the change. The mature, laid-back crowd trades neighbourhood gossip while sipping wines chosen from a well-balanced list. The seasonal menu is short and reliable, offering such simple fare as tender beef ravioli tossed with a decadent butter-sage sauce, and juicy Cornish hen with roasted potatoes and grape tomatoes. It’s the kind of comforting food that doesn’t ruffle any feathers. The service is attentive but not yet on par with the gorgeous space. Mains $20–$30.
