Editorial Review

Though the banquet room accommodates 600, most diners enjoy Ruby’s well-executed Cantonese favourites from a brighter, more intimate side dining room. Honey barbecued pork is perfection, sublimely tender and candied all the way through. A crab claw provides a handle for a croquette of juicy, firm crabmeat, fried in the lightest of taro batters. Peking duck braised with king mushrooms and lettuce is tender; too bad about its gelatinous hoisin. Mains $10–$30.
