“Don’t worry, be happy” urges a chalkboard inscription at this cheerful Caribbean takeout spot, decked out in pictures of Peter Tosh, Bob Marley and other reggae greats. Dance hall plays jovially in the background while customers order fresh organic juices and smoothies to wash down their meals. Oxtail, jerk chicken, roti and homemade callaloo and split pea soups are perennial favourites. Shanty’s also sells hard-to-find African movies, documentaries and Rastafarian memorabilia. Unlicensed.
