This shabby-chic haven, with piano lounge and patio, is an antiquated curiosity shop with bookshelves brimming with sci-fi and pop fiction titles (many for sale), magazines and vintage sofas. Although Montreal-style bagels and sandwiches may be healthier options, the emphasis is on dessert: crêpes, Belgian waffles, old-fashioned milkshakes, fruit sundaes, brownies, cheesecakes and pies go hand-in-hand with liquor-laced smoothies, freshly squeezed juices, root beer or one of eight brewskies on tap. Charming and slightly whimsical, the two-storey café is as comfy as Grandma’s living room. Mains $8–$12.
