The hardwood floor—the original lanes from the space’s bowling alley past—is a funky touch in an otherwise prim room. But with food this good, the room’s lack of character can be forgiven. Former chef Ben Heaton has left (he’s currently sous-chef at One), but fans of his “think global, eat local” philosophy needn’t worry; the kitchen is now in the able hands of Kevin McKenna, who earned his cred as a sous at Eigensinn Farm. A suckling pig plate includes tangy cheddar rarebit topped with succulent house-cured ham and a rolled sous-vide belly, sliced and seared to tender perfection. A long wine list offers lots of local vintages under $60. Service is friendly. Mains $19–$35.
Provided by the establishment: Whether you choose drinks in our wine bar, an afternoon on our rooftop patio or dinner in our elegant dining room, you will be offered a wonderful experience at Globe Bistro. Feel free to chat with the chef in our open kitchen. For more intimacy, our private dining room is available for groups. Our modern Canadian menu is inspired by fresh seasonal and local ingredients and incorporates flavours from around the world. Think global. Eat local!
