In the small, graceful room, chef Nick Drake (ex of Ki) and front-of-house partner David Salter raise the bar for the Beach, with big-hearted service and well-prepared small(ish) plates. House-made pappardelle shows a gifted hand, balancing cream, pepper and truffle oil with excellent eggy noodles. Japanese hot and sour broth floating diced tofu and slivered shiitakes is served in tandem with a slightly spicy, if somewhat over-salted eggplant soup; both deliver a gorgeous vegetal kick. ...
