Finding a budget eatery on this upmarket stretch of Yonge just north of the Five Thieves should be surprising enough; that this terrific little pub (think bare-bones decor and draft beer) serves delicious Thai food is almost enough to stun. Thai mushroom soup translates as a generous bowl of hot mushroom-studded broth, aromatic with lemon grass and lime leaves. Red and green chicken curry combines chunks of tender breast and an assortment of vegetables in a tame but flavourful coconut sauce with rice—perfect for regulars and Rosedalians alike. An unlikely menu mate, traditional pub fare includes the bar’s signature yam fries, which are a tad chewy, and generous slabs of well-seasoned homemade meat loaf set atop oniony mashed potatoes and drizzled with rich, satisfying gravy.
