“It’s the place people come to when they don’t want to go out,” muses the barman at this dimly lit pub decorated with antique liquor signs, stained glass and a fireplace. In between games of pool, patrons request wings, burgers and fajitas, or—if they’re in the mood for something more—a choice from the Best of Britain section: bangers, beans and mash, or perhaps the house specialty, a Guinness steak–and–mushroom pie. Full-bodied British brews Kilkenny, Boddingtons, Tennents and Strongbow liven up the usual draft offerings. Mains $6.59–$16.
