Warm hospitality and exquisite flavours are the draw at this recently reno’d Ethiopian restaurant. Large platters of injera come piled with spiced delights to be shared communally, and scooped up by hand with the bread. For doro wat, chicken is marinated in nitter kibbeh (clarified butter infused with sage, garlic and ginger) then stewed with a hard-boiled egg in the tangy heat of berbere spice. A purée of roasted chickpeas offers a slow burn and buttery richness served in a hot clay pot. The formal coffee ceremony, complete with burning frankincense, is worth the wait.
