Serving up the fiery food of Mauritius, which blends African, French and Indian influences, this comfortable neighbourhood bistro charms with bentwood chairs, white tablecloths and mustard walls. Prices are laughably low, and the quality is more than respectable. Skip ho-hum samosas and head for two okra-based dishes: whole, sautéed just until tender and tossed with tomato and onion; and chopped, mixed with diced palm hearts and tomatoes in a light vinaigrette. Seafood options dominate the mains. In one, a delicate sauce of ground mustard, garlic, onion and vinegar enlivens a juicy slab of Australian cod. The wine list is tiny. Mains $12–$14.
