The requisite car culture and distance from the city’s steady hum give the neighbourhood the calm feel of a bedroom community. Although many older people remain in the area, the numerous schools and spacious homes are attracting families looking for room to grow. Residents report that the nearby airport isn’t as noisy as buyers might think.
HOUSING STOCK: Ranch-style bungalows and two-storey homes from the 1970s and 1980s make up most of the streetscape. Recent redevelopment has brought large, boxy dwellings as well as townhouses to the neighbourhood.
BARGAIN ZONES: Prices are lower the closer addresses are to the airport.
THE VERDICT: IIt’s a pleasant life here, with generously sized homes and lots and well-regarded schools, including Hollycrest Middle School. The proximity of the 401 makes for a fairly reasonable commute time.
