Real Estate Guide › East
Birchcliffe - Cliffside
This district sits just east of the Beach and has the elegantly designed R. C. Harris Filtration Plant as one of its landmarks. The ravine, nearby Lake Ontario, plus some unusual architecture make this district one of the more charming in Toronto. The streets twist engagingly and many houses (a mixed bag of Tudor, Georgian and 1950s standard) are angled in unpredictable ways to the street. Fallingbrook Drive slopes down eastward from Fallingbrook Road, with a thickly wooded ravine on the left and a variety of attractive houses descending the hill in a terraced row. It’s not famously convenient—retail stores aren’t plentiful and it’s a long way to the nearest subway station—a trade-off residents accept for the area’s privacy.
