Toddlers sit on a play parachute while their caregivers flap it up and down, creating waves. It appears as if the tykes are merely having fun, but looks are deceiving: they’re also learning about the difference between hard and soft. And that baby playing peekaboo? She’s discovering cause and effect. Who knew? Eighteen lesson plans incorporate games and draw on 30 years of Gymboree program development; other classes focus on art and music. A handout at the end of each class suggests at-home activities for keen parents. Teachers also lead educational birthday parties (from $275). Ages: newborn to five years.
Hours:
M–F 9–5, Sa–Su 9–1; hours vary.
How much:
Four-week play class $74, music $70, art $82.
