Fresh from a $14-million facelift, this Annex fixture is extremely stylish; Crayola even shot a television commercial in one of its nursery school rooms. But the sparkling 100,000-square-foot JCC doesn’t rely on its good looks: it offers a wide variety of facilities and programs for children and families of all faiths. In addition to the nursery school, there is a day school, babysitting service, after-school program and various summer camps. Kids who enroll in the hip-hop, ballet or jazz programs can learn to bust a move in the dance studio, and there is a large indoor pool for swimming lessons. Soccer and basketball programs take place in the double gym. A cooking program for preschoolers, taught in the new state-of-the-art kitchen, will begin in the fall. A large number of other musical, fitness and cultural programs are also offered.

- year-round; individual programs generally run in seasonal sessions; open M–Th 5:30 a.m.–10 p.m., F 5:30 a.m.–7 p.m., Sa–Su 7–7.
