A bastion of musical tradition since 1886, the Royal Conservatory remains the guardian of musical standards, though it’s not quite as stuffy as it once was. In addition to private instruction in more than 45 instruments (from piano to traditional Chinese instruments), RCM offers 80-plus group classes in everything from Ghanaian drumming and jazz ensemble to hip hop and DJ-based composition.
