Turn off the Saturday morning cartoons and get the kids to make their own animation. There’s not much drawing involved—students use stop-motion and clay animation—so it’s pretty simple. All the kids have to do is create some shapes, film them and download the results onto a computer. Budding Spielbergs can sign up for a one-week summer camp in film production.
Hours:
Can’t Sit Still (ages three to five) Sa 10:30–noon; Open House Workshop (ages six to 13) Sa–Su 1–3 p.m.; reservations recommended.
How much:
$5 per child, accompanying adult free; camp from $250.
