A down-to-earth arts and crafts and cooking studio, the Academy offers classes in everything from sewing to wood carving. Preschoolers try a little mixed media—pottery, painting, gardening and the like. Older kids and teens tackle knitting, painting and basket weaving. Longer three-hour adult cooking classes are also open to teens. Run by costume designer Don Colvin, the 11-year-old facility offers birthday parties and day camps.
