Long before knitting cafés and sewing studios sprouted up across the city, this easygoing mid-town school for arts, crafts and cooking was in full swing. Every creative predilection is catered to: kids, teens and adults can choose from pottery, sculpture, drawing and wood carving, as well as such populist faves as knitting, sewing and jewellery making. A 90-minute drop-off program for preschoolers lets Mom hit the gym while little hands are kept busy with baking, painting and candle making, among other crafty activities. Summer, Passover and March break camps with a Laura Ingalls bent (jam making, block printing, flower arranging) book up fast. Birthday parties are also offered, as well as team-building events, and bridal and baby showers.

Hours:
year-round; hours vary.
How much:
preschoolers $23.85 per class; March break and holiday camps, half-day $45, full day $85, includes materials.
