Paint Depot

Many paint stores claim they can colour-match, but few do it with the exactitude of this Queen East shop. According to the manager, “It really is a skill and a talent, which is why our people study it a long time before actually doing it for customers.” Using four trusted brands—Sico, Para, Pratt & Lambert and Pittsburgh Paints—Paint Depot can handily imitate pricier palettes. Paint comes in three grades: contractor (about $25 per gallon), premium ($35) and ultra-premium ($38–$50). For those who don’t trust colour chips, Paint Depot offers over 400 colours from the Sico 6000 Series in handy four-ounce “taster” jars ($5 each) for at-home testing.
