Luminart

This clean open-concept showroom feels more like a gallery than it does your typical lighting store—no cluttered carnival of lights here. True to its name, the chic, super-modern fixtures on display are showcased like works of art. “We only select the finest from each collection,” explains owner Sam Ruscica. “These pieces are like the jewellery of the lighting world.” Highlights include Foscarini’s Caboche suspension lamp (comprising transparent globes), which goes for $1,710; and the sexy Miss K pendant lamp ($795), designed by Philippe Starck for Flos and made from a new polycarbonate that appears metallic when off and creates a sexy gradient of light when lit. For a modern take on the traditional crystal chandelier, Axolight’s Marylin suspension ($1,950) is an elliptical chandelier model with strings of crystal dropping from the frame.
