Sexy, prestigious and expensive is the lingua franca of German design, and the high-performance Poggenpohl kitchens at this modern showroom are no exception. With cabinets as glossy as a manicure, the fully loaded display kitchens—tempered glass countertops, integrated Miele appliances, an LED-lit backsplash—can go for up to $160,000. Drawers do not merely shut, they “glide smoothly toward their final point of closure,” and the innards can be tricked out with solid wood cutlery organizers and recycling stations. Despite the high style and steep price tags, the showroom is surprisingly low-key. Though walk-in queries are welcome, appointments are encouraged.
