Downsview Kitchens

Set aside $30,000 (at the very least). Then contemplate your own expansive, high-country kitchen: it could be the colour of butterscotch ice cream, with soaring solid-wood cabinets (fronted by glass windowpanes), and a freezer and fridge concealed by cupboards. Opened in 1967, Downsview Kitchens has spawned 58 showrooms—from British Columbia to Puerto Rico—and produced customized kitchen programs. The look is artisanal, almost fussy, although you can find plenty of more streamlined cabinets in au courant dark stains. It all comes with rigorous testing and workmanship: the hinges, for instance, are guaranteed for life.
