The design duo, known for their innovative, inviting interiors, recently moved their 12-person design firm into a spectacular limestone-and-glass structure on Davenport Road. Their line of exquisite art deco–inspired furniture beckons passersby from huge windows. It was these designs, initially created as one-off pieces, that spawned the Powell & Bonnell mini-empire; today, their elegant furniture—sofas, coffee tables, wingbacks and wall sconces, mostly in refined neutrals—is available internationally. The furniture is a good reflection of their design aesthetic: clean-lined and contemporary, with traditional influences. But they’re also versatile. Past work includes a mountain retreat in Arizona, an antique-filled Georgian home in Forest Hill, and an award-winning reno of an historic mill that dates back to 1857.
