Williams-Sonoma has nothing on Freedman and Lipowitz. The husband-and-wife team of Randy and Barbara has presided over this housewares shop for 15 years, and the shelves are crammed to the rafters with their experience. A wall of pure white Pillivuyt French porcelain (platter, $158) gives way to a knife display heavy on Japanese brands; a carefully curated cookbook selection; classic red and blue Staub enamel; and more pepper grinders than you can shake a salt shaker at. The back corner is a baker’s paradise: rolled fondant, Nielsen-Massey vanilla extracts, edible gold leaf and dozens of food colouring gels.
