Indoors meets outdoors, East meets West, and practical meets whimsical—all in the heart of Greektown. Buddha heads mingle with moody glass or metal lanterns ($12–$60) and practical cast-iron hanging baskets. The store moves a lot of sensible lightweight and low-maintenance cast aluminum furniture (a 30-inch-wide table with two bistro chairs costs $409) along with classic teak patio pieces, but owner Robb Dagenais distinguishes Moss from the big-box places by stocking unique artisanal pieces, such as a reclaimed pine bookshelf ($729). Another special feature is Dog Bite Steel, the unique work of artist Jean Pierre Schoss, who transforms found steel into such playful creations as flowers and animals for living rooms (garden-inspired interiors are another specialty). The store also offers an array of potted succulents (small cactus or haworthia, $18–$24).
