This airy shop is more like a sophisticated gallery than garden centre. It’s filled with fountains, artistic accessories and a mix of unusual plants. Even the checkout counter is a thing of beauty, constructed of Wiarton limestone. Standouts include Faux Bois furniture, made of moulded concrete but fashioned to appear as natural wood (a bench goes for $1,950), and pieces in lightweight fibreglass (cherub planter, $129). For those who love the green but don’t have a garden, Horticultural Design sells small indoor Zen gardens featuring cactus-like haworthia plants (from $59). In addition, the store represents five artists (all of whom work in a botanical theme) and offers fresh flowers.
