JP Purveyors Home

This Queen West showroom holds an impressive collection of restyled furniture from the late Ching period—which, if you can’t distinguish your Ming from your Ching, covers the late 1880s to early 1900s. Wares (which include wedding chests, cupboards, trunks and consoles) are sourced from remote northern villages, then restored, painted and sometimes retrofitted (to accommodate a flat-screen TV, for example). Many pieces are perfectly sized for condos and lofts. An eight-foot-long console ($1,695) provides abundant storage and even a place to sit, but at just 16 inches deep, it fits quite nicely in the narrowest of rooms. A line of reproduction Canadiana and French country provides an interesting contrast. The store also offers home fashions and giftware, including throws, pillows and lamps.
