For more than two decades now, Eiley has elevated decor to lofty heights. The store has the mood of an Architectural Digest interior—very upper crust and heavy on intricately rendered details, such as a collection of Murano glass lamps (from $2,000) from the Steve Jensen line, in a variety of colours. New for spring are Chameleon Fine Lighting and an array of replica chandeliers, sconces and table lamps. Two names in French deco, well-known to enthusiasts—Andre Arbus and Lucien Rollin—are reproduced by Vancouver-based William Switzer, an exclusive to Joan Eiley in Ontario. Other impressive pieces include a Marie Antoinette bench by Jennifer Scott that marries traditional design with such modern materials as refined stone and handworked metals.
