This east-end outfitter has a Far East fetish, carrying new and antique furniture from Japan, Korea and northern China. The Japanese and Korean pieces are characteristically clean and minimalist, while the Chinese items feature ornate carving and colourful lacquers. A new elm step chest with iron handles goes for $3,000; a timeless ginkgo hutch is $1,600; and a 100-year-old Japanese kiri cabinet recently went for $1,800. Greentea will also furnish your kitchen: the mizuya counters, cabinets and chests come in a variety of wood stains and hardware, and can be customized to fit any space.
