In France, where the company was established in 1904, Grange is considered a family-friendly brand—though you wouldn’t want your crayon-toting toddler coming near these golden silk settees. This outpost, the second in Canada (after Montreal), has access to a thick catalogue’s worth of solid wood pieces for bed, dining and living rooms and offices. The classical styles will appeal to those who favour Louis XVI and Louis Philippe. But there’s a touch of contemporary flavour in the form of shots of colour: gorgeous beech and cherrywood tables, armoires and candy-hued petits chandeliers. New this year is the French line, a 1940s contemporary collection typified by rounded corners and minimal detailing; the classic Provençal line, featuring curved legs; and the Velum, a line of outdoor furniture.
